The DIC’s mission is to educate students, stimulate research, help develop health care policy, and disseminate medication and health information through the practice of evidence–based medicine in a manner that strives for accuracy, completeness, and innovation for the innovation for the improvement of patient outcomes.


To that end, the DIC’s four key objectives are to:

  1. Educate pharmacy students to serve as effective providers of medicines information;
  2. Provide specialized information on medicines and therapeutics to meet drug information needs of practitioners;
  3. Promote the practice of evidence- based medicine and rational use of medicines for optimizing patient outcomes; and
  4. Support drug research through the provision of up-to-date information, as well as exposing knowledge gaps and offering solutions for closing them.


The DIC at Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital envisions of becoming a nationwide center of excellence in the provision of drug information, training, and related research.
